Call for Expressions of Interest: Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowships 2019
(Next call: H2020-MSCA-IF-2019; Call opens: 11 April 2019; Deadline: 11 September 2019)
In line with the centre’s strategy to promote excellence, IMDEA Nanociencia is inviting Expressions of Interest from potential international postdoctoral researchers who are interested in applying for a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowship. These fellowships offer individuals the opportunity to enhance their career development and prospects through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. If successful, the fellowship will provide a competitive salary above € 55,000 (before taxes) and an allocation for research and training costs.
IMDEA Nanociencia offers an attractive international working environment and the researchers involved in the different programmes are running more than 30 operative research laboratories. This international atmosphere is coupled with strong interdisciplinary research which is organized around 5 programmes: (i) Organic Nanosystems for light harvesting and energy conversion, (ii) Fundamental properties of 2D materials, (iii) Nanomedicine against cancer and infection; (iv) Nanomagnetism and critical raw materials and (v) Solid state Quantum devices for information technologies.
For this call, we welcome expressions of interest particularly in the following Research Areas:
- Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces (Dr. David Écija)
- Molecular Motors (Dr. Francisco J. García Cao)
- Nanomedicine (Dr. Álvaro Somoza)
- Metallodrugs (Dr. Ana Pizarro)
- Nanoscience and Molecular Materials (Prof. Tomás Torres)
- Chemistry of Low-Dimensional Materials (Dr. Emilio M. Pérez)
- Switchable NanoMaterials (Dr. Jose Sánchez Costa)
- Nano Functional Surfaces (Dr. Isabel Rodriguez)
- Synthesis of Magnetic Nanoparticles (Dr. Gorka Salas)
- Time-resolved X-ray spectroscopy in biological and chemical catalysis (Dr. Dooshaye Moonshiram)
- Modelling (Prof. Fernando Martin)
Who can apply?
All expressions of interest must meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme. In particular, applicants must be Experienced Researchers (ER), at time of submission (11 September 2019); be in possession of a doctoral degree; or have at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience*. Researchers cannot have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the host country (Spain) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline. The grant usually provides an allowance to cover living, mobility and family costs. In addition, the EU contributes to the research, training and networking costs of the fellow, as well as to the management and indirect costs of the project. The researcher may be of any nationality and no age restrictions apply. The grant is awarded to the host organization.
Only one proposal per individual researcher may be submitted to this call.
*Full-Time Equivalent Research Experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate (either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited), even if a doctorate was never started or envisaged.
How to express your Interest in a MSCA Individual Fellowship at IMDEA Nanociencia:
Candidates are required to read carefully the MSCA IF Guide for Applicants to ascertain eligibility, especially with regard to the mobility rules for each scheme, and then express their interest no later than 30th June 2019, by providing:
- An updated CV (max. 2 pages plus full list of publications)
- A Research proposal summary (max. 2 pages)
- A letter of interest with the motivation to join IMDEA Nano (max. 1 page)
Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support with regards to the proposal development.
